on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 2pm until 4pm. It works specifically with drug and alcohol related problems and offers counselling, advice and a means of referral for treatment. An enterprise such as this relies on volunteers. People and organisations
who can give time, goods and/or funds are our lifeblood. Community Support in establishing the Winter Shelter came from a wide variety of sources and North Herts Sanctuary gratefully acknowledges support from COMPANIES, INDIVIDUALS and CHURCHES. Here are a few examples:Schroders Charitable Trust
and Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cashback scheme provided donations which went some way to make up for aloss of funding from Crisis - due to their own financial problems. Volunteers supplemented the permanent staff providing cooking, serving, cleaning, painting, support or simply a friendly ear. Coffee Mornings and other fundraising events require helpers. (The last one in Hitchin also involved a lot of washing up!) Harvest Festival and Christmas collections of goods and money are simply some of the invaluable aid provided. We know that the sanctuary, its helpers and clients have been in the thoughts and prayers of the local churches. Spiritual and physical help are both appreciated.Ann Milner is walking from Santiago in Spain to walk over 1600 miles across three countries to arrive in Rome around August. We are one of the two Charities that the walk is supporting and you can read about her journey on her website walk2rome.me.uk
How can YOU help? Sponsorship? Time? Raffle Prizes? Gift Aid? It costs thousands of pounds to keep the shelter open.
